Hi, gang!  I’m hoping you can help me pull resources together for all mental health professionals – state by state here in the US as well as for those who are in other countries.  Remember?  I mentioned earlier in the year that we actually have folks around the globe showing up to build community here.

So . . . if you know of an organization or networking group or two that are specifically Image of International Chat Communitydesigned for mental health professionals in your geographic area, please take a moment to tell us about them (including what state they are in).

In the mean time, here are resources that I have found for those in Colorado:

It’s been over a year since I posted my initial list of online discussion lists specifically focused on mental health.  Now it’s time to post Image of Jigsaw Puzzlean updated list.  Here are 9 online discussion lists that you might find useful to help you network and learn about new resources for your practice.

  • CESNET-L is a very active list focusing on counselor education and supervision.
  • Counselors at Yahoo is open to behavioral heath professionals and students. Another dynamic and active forum that is very friendly to students and new professionals.
  • COUNSGRADS is a discussion list that focuses on supporting graduate students in the mental health professions.
  • Diversegrad-L is another list I’ve found that addresses multicultural/cross-cultural and diversity issues in the counseling profession and society at large.
  • Dramatherapy List is for individuals interested in drama therapy.  Although it is hosted by the National Association for Drama Therapy, membership in NADT is not required for joining this listserv.
  • POWR-L is a discussion list focused on the psychology of women.  This list, hosted by the Association for Women in Psychology, is a dynamic and resource-focused list .  Membership in AWP is not required in order to join the discussion list.
  • Warren Corsen III’s Counseling Resources is open to clinical professionals, students, and educators in counseling and related fields.  Another student-friendly list emphasizing graduate and doctoral students.

And, if you know of others that might be of interest, please drop us a note below and tell us about them!

Job Hunting For Mental Health Professionals In Colorado

May
31
2010

Favorite readers, I know this is a blog focused on helping you build a vibrant private practice but I’ve had so many new mental health professionals contact me asking for job leads in the State of Colorado so here’s what I can tell you . . . .

Colorado is geographically challenged with 90% of it’s population living up and down the I-25 corridor.

For nonprofit employers, check out Image of Compass on ColoradoColorado Nonprofit Association.  This is a fabulous resource.  Take some time to roam around the site.  There’s a job board, a resume board, and an events board embedded in the site.  They hold a fall conference that has lots of networking potential.  They also offer training that can be of interest to nonprofits, board development, and individuals.

Here is a list of Colorado Colleges and Career Schools.  I don’t know what type of job you are looking for (and, obviously, this list includes many schools that do not have programs that teach mental health professionals).  However, if you are looking to teach in higher education, it’s a jumping off place to check out their human resources departments and needs.  And, of course, don’t forget to check out  HigherEdJobs.com in Colorado.

Don’t forget to hook up with the Colorado Counseling Association.  The professional organization is more active than ever and is looking for ways to support licensed counselors across the state.

Colorado Health Foundation Jobs lists volunteer opportunities (great for networking) as well as job openings.

If you are relocating to the state, by all means, feel free to touch base with me at Tamara at TamaraSuttle dot com.  I’m happy to help you meet the mental health professionals here in Colorado as we build our mental health community!
